The UP Epsilon Chi Fraternity will celebrate its 40th Anniversary on October 2, 2004. There will be an EC Week at the College of Engineering where the Alpha Chapter is based. (The Beta Chapter is at UP Los Banos.) The fraternity together with the UP Barkadahan, will host an Invitational Golf Tournament at the Alabang Country Club on September 27. In cooperation with the Philippine Contractors Association and the Asian Institute of Management, it will host a public forum on "Infrastructure Requirements To Meet the Philippines Medium-Term Goals". Invited to speak are Bayani Fernando of the MMDA, Romulo Neri of NEDA, and Manolito Madrasto of PCA. This will be held on September 29 from 1:00 to 5:00 pm at the AIM Conference Center.
Earlier on September 4, a concert featuring the Spirit of 67 band will be held at the Valle Verde Clubhouse for the benefit of the Andy Seriña Scholarship Fund. The Anniversary Ball will be held on Friday, October 1 at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel. Live music will be provided by the Rockin Revival. On Sunday, May 15, 2004, Brdn. Joseller "Yeng" Guiao 80B was proclaimed winner of the vice gubernatorial race of Pampanga after rivals conceded to the Lakas team of Yeng and running-mate Mark Lapid, son of outgoing Pampanga Governor Lito Lapid. Following tabulation of unofficial quick count results, Yeng posted commanding leads over his opponents, garnering more than double the number of votes of his closest rival, Provincial Board Member Edna David.

Brdn. Ed Mercado 71B has accepted a teaching appointment for Spring 2004 as Lecturer in Operations Management at the College of Business Administration at California State University, Sacramento.
Brdns. Joseph Ronald Abesa 88F and Jose Socao, Jr. 89C were among the 1,108 successful examinees who passed the 2003 bar examinations. Only 20.71% of the 5,349 students who took the licensure exams passed. Top spot went to Ateneo de Manila University with a rating of 88.5310%.

Brdn. Rodrigo Jamisola 89B recently wrote a paper that was accepted and is under consideration for Best Student Paper Award in the 2004 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation in New Orleans this coming May. The paper is based on an algorithm he developed at the Colorado State University.
